Delays to motorists as lorry catches fire in Dudley

A lorry caught fire in Dudley this afternoon after part of its engine failed.

Firefighters were called to the junction of Tividale Road and New Birmingham Road at around 2.45pm today to reports of a lorry fire.

A crew from Tipton arrived to find a fire on-board the vehicle caused by a blown turbocharger attached to the lorry's engine.

Police officers were called to the scene and the New Birmingham Road has been closed to allow firefighters to make the vehicle safe.

Firefighters remain at the scene and motorists are being warned about possible delays.
