It is earmarked to be built on the former Park Tavern site in Walsall.

Developer McCarthy and Stone wants to build 28 homes, along with restaurant and communal facilities under a £4.5 million scheme.

The pub on Broadway North closed in 2012 and there have been concerns about anti-social behaviour at the site which is next to Walsall Arboretum.

As well as the honour of naming the new site and to attend the official opening, the winner will also be rewarded with a £150 prize.

McCarthy and Stone's regional sales and marketing director Gill Sabin said: "We're thrilled to offer the public in Walsall the opportunity to suggest a name for our development.

"We're committed to selecting a name which will have relevance within the local community. We're looking for a real mix of suggestions, from names honouring service personnel to those celebrating the history of the area. We urge anyone who would like to choose a name for our new site to get in touch as soon as they can before it's too late."

Entrants should send their ideas for a suggested name which must end with the word 'court', along with your name and contact details via email to walsallnaming@htpr.com, or alternatively post it to: Walsall Naming, Haslimann Taylor PR, 2nd Floor, Lancaster House, 67 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 1NQ.

The deadline for entries is August 15, 2014.

When the proposed four-storey L-shaped building was put forward by the company it attracted 24 letters of support from neighbouring residents.

There was an objection over concerns of lack of car parking in the area, But the scheme includes 21 car parking spaces which Walsall Council planners said was appropriate for such a scheme.

Bosses at McCarthy and Stone organised a public consultation event to give residents and businesses based nearby to discuss the project and air their views on the designs.

The developer is leading builder of retirement housing. It has almost 150 developments across the UK and have sold more than 45,000.
