Little Scholars Nursery at the University of Wolverhampton's Randall Lines Halls of Residence in Molineux Street will be extensively refurbished over the summer.

The work will see the nursery's play area expand in size, enabling it to boost the number of places on offer from 50 to 68.

New children's toilets, a private area for university staff to breastfeed or express their milk and a confidential meeting room will also be created.

The project is being funded by Wolverhampton City Council and the University of Wolverhampton.

The nursery will remain open throughout the works but will be relocated to another building nearby.

Nursery manager Helen Hall, said: "We are thrilled to be extending the nursery to provide excellent play based learning and offer more places for staff, students and the community.

"We are all very excited about moving into the newly refurbished nursery in September and can't wait to see the children's reaction to their new space."

The nursery, which caters for children aged between nine months and five years, offers childcare to university staff and students as well as members of the community.

It was rated as outstanding in its last Ofsted inspection in 2010.
