Crash victim named as Wolverhampton man

A man who died in a crash on a Midlands road has been named by police as Stefen Boswell  from Wolverhampton.

The 20-year-old was killed in a smash on the A5 near Shrewsbury on Friday. Police say an officer in a marked police vehicle was following a red Vauxhall Corsa, reported as being stolen in a burglary when the incident happened in the early hours of the morning.

Officer say at around 2.15am the Corsa collided with a lamp post and left the road.

Mr. Boswell was declared dead at the scene by medics.

A post mortem was held today and an inquest will be opened in due course. West Mercia Police has referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which is standard practice in such circumstances.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to call police on telephone 101 quoting incident number 0066S 060614.
