The contents of the skip spread across the northbound carriageway of the A38 at Bassetts Pole. The driver was taken to hospital after the 5.40am crash.

Police closed the road while the accident scene was cleared.

Staffordshire Police spokeswoman Sarah Davison said: "The road has been closed by officers to allow safe recovery of the vehicle and so the general waste from the skip can be cleared from the carriageway to make it safe."
