Cyclist killed after bike crashed into lamp post near Stourbridge

A cyclist has died after suffering serious head injuries following a collision with a lamp post near Stourbridge.

Officers from South Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the fatal crash, which took place on the A458 Bridgnorth Road in Enville, near to the junction of Blundies Lane at around 3.30pm on Saturday (March 15).

The cyclist, who collided with a lamp post, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley. He was pronounced dead a short while later.

Today he has been formally identified as Christopher Storer, aged 51, of Dix Avenue in Smalley, Derbyshire.

The road remained closed until around 7.20pm on Saturday while specialist officers carried out an investigation at the scene.

His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Witnesses are asked to contact PC Andy Hogan at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 489 of March 14.
