New appeal in legal bid over Dudley mosque land

A long-running legal dispute over land earmarked for a multi-million pound mosque is to continue as Muslim leaders attempt a further appeal.

A recent ruling by the High Court found in favour of Dudley Council and it was expected a date would be set for the site, in Hall Street, Dudley, to be handed back to the authority.

But council leader Councillor David Sparks today said formal notification had been received that Dudley Muslim Association had submitted a request to appeal the court's ruling.

He said the authority was now waiting to hear the outcome of the request from the Court of Appeal.

If it is granted it will mean further legal wrangling over the site, which has been in dispute for years.
