More than 2,300 people took part in an online poll on our website on the issue.

It comes after a photograph was taken of Emily Slough while she was feeding her eight-month-old daughter Matilda in Rugeley.

Breastfeeding mother's fury goes viral after she is labelled a 'tramp'

It was posted on Facebook to the page Spotted: Rugeley accompanied with the caption: "??I know the sun is out n all that but there'??s no need to let your kid feast on your nipple in town!! Tramp."

The 27-year-old'??s infuriated response has now gone viral, with people across the globe backing her plans to protest in the town with other mothers and their babies.

Yesterday, we posed the question if breastfeeding was acceptable in public with 88 per cent of voters saying yes.

Comments flooded in to the Express & Star website both in support and objection to Mrs Slough. Alalsop said: "??How can it be unacceptable to feed your baby? Fully support this woman and I will certainly continue to breastfeed in public."?

Rainbowfly was another supporter: "??Why the hell should she not be allowed to feed her baby in public it'??s totally natural and nothing to be ashamed of at all? It's just small minded bigoted people who think it should be hidden away, these type of people stop so many mothers feeling they can breastfeed their babies and go straight to bottle feeding."?

Woody was cynical about Mrs Slough'??s response, he said: "After reading her comments a cynic might suggest her actions were touting for the kind of reaction she has got. Militant breastfeeding moms of the world unite or what?"

Julie Brookes posted on Facebook: "These people who are against a woman feeding their children in public need to get a life. It'??s the most beautiful and natural thing a woman can do for their child it'??s not perverted nor sick. It'??s mother nature if you'??re offended by it then don'??t look."?

Mrs Slough is now rallying people to meet in Market Street, Rugeley, at midday on Saturday.

Spotted Rugeley has now been deactivated after protesters bombarded the page with breastfeeding photos.
