Prostitute banned from Walsall streets by magistrates

A prostitute has been stopped from plying her trade in parts of a Black Country town for the next two years after being given a criminal anti-social behaviour order.

The order, issued by Walsall magistrates, means Sarah Powell, of Hough Road in Pleck, is prevented from entering an area in Walsall where sex workers are known to frequent.

The 31-year-old cannot enter Darlaston Road, Pleck Road and Wednesbury Road, except by bus or car between the hours of 6pm and 8am for the next two years.

Miss Rachael Ward, prosecuting, said: "She has acted in an anti-social manner that is likely to cause distress. Neighbours and business owners in the area are having people looking for women and approaching women who might not even be of that nature.

"Condoms have been found in the area, but I am not saying that this is down to Mrs Powell, just that it is causing alarm and distress to the neighbours in that location and nearby.

"Mrs Powell has had street warnings and she previously received an engagement and support order to deal with these issues which was not successful."

Chairman of the magistrates John Palmer said: "We are granting this Crasbo but you cannot carry on the way you have been because you could go to prison. You really do have to keep to this."
