Police called to Birmingham University student protest

Police were called to Birmingham University today following a student protest.

Around 100 people, believed to have travelled from around the country, were reported to be taking part in the protest at the Edgbaston campus.

West Midlands Police confirmed they had been called to the university.

Spokesman Pete Edney said: "Officers attended the university just before 5pm this evening to support the university in dealing with the situation."
