Teenage girl describes tragic beating in Barry Shillam murder trial

A teenage girl has told a court how a man was beaten by three others in an attack which led to his death.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, described an alleged assault in a flat on Brook?Street, Smethwick, which caused the death of Barry Shillam on July 17 last year.

She said the first person to make physical contact with the 52-year-old was a black man called Skully – who the prosecution claims is one of the three defendants, John Scott. She said

Gurminder Singh Sidhu, then became involved and assaulted Mr Shillam while he was on the floor. The girl claimed another woman, Andrea Jones, also 'bombed' Mr Shillam – punching him which caused his nose to break. He died the next day.

Jones, 39 and from Brook Street, Sidhu, 40 from St Matthews Road, Smethwick, and Scott, 46 also from Brook Street, all deny murder at Wolverhampton Crown Court. The case continues.
