FMX athletes Samson Eaton, Jamie Squibb, Dan Whitby and Dave Wiggins fired themselves 40ft into the air before pulling a series of spectacular stunts in Centenary Square in Birmingham.

The display was part of preparations for the Arenacross race event, which comes to the LG Arena in Birmingham on January 25.

All four riders will star in the interval entertainment for the forthcoming Arenacross tour that will see the UK and Europe's top professional and youth racers fight it out on purpose-built, dirt tracks in the seven-round series that tours the UK in the new year.

Professional motorcycle racer Steven Clarke, aged 23, from Rugeley, is one of the favourites to win the 2014 Arenacross. He said: "I definitely fancy my chances. I want to win every race I show up to and I consider myself a serious contender."

On Saturday he turned out to meet fans and sign autographs in the city centre.

He said: "It's a great atmosphere here, but that's hardly a surprise for Birmingham where the people really know how to enjoy themselves and have a good time."
