A man has admitted attempting to murder a heavily pregnant woman by stabbing her in the stomach six times.
Victim Rachel Kane, who was seven months pregnant, suffered stab wounds in the attack by Andre Omar Smith but both she and her unborn child survived the ordeal.
She has now given birth to a healthy baby daughter, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Andre Omar Smith pleaded guilty to the charge yesterday.
Police had been called to an address in Lea Street, Kidderminster, at around 11.30pm on July 28 and found the injured 25-year-old woman.
Smith, aged 24, of Hamstead Road, Great Barr, Birmingham, spoke only to confirm his personal details and enter his pleas.
Although he admitted attempted murder of Miss Kane, Smith entered a not guilty plea to a charge of attempted destruction of her unborn child.
The charge was ordered to lie on file but Judge Patrick Thomas QC said the fact Miss Kane was pregnant at the time of the attack would form part of the consideration of any sentence.
The case was adjourned until December 9 for reports to be compiled on Smith. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance.
