Businesses in a shopping centre have spoken of their shock following the death of a truck driver believed to have been crushed by a metal shutter.
The 34-year-old died after suffering serious injuries at loading bay used by the Home Bargains store at Dudley’s Churchill Shopping Centre yesterday.
An investigation has been launched by Dudley Council to uncover the circumstances behind the accident.
Stores at the centre said staff and customers had been left ‘shocked and saddened’ at the man’s death.
Alan Lander, who works at Walter Smiths Butchers in the centre, said: “Customers have been talking about what happened and it has come as a shock.
“At the moment no-one seems to know exactly what happened.”
