Singer Joe Whelan is gearing up to return to the limelight with a second appearance on the X Factor.
The Wolverhampton singer melted hearts all over the country when he reached the boot camp section of the show last year.
His premature exit even prompted a Facebook campaign to get him reinstated.
And now the 27-year-old is hoping to go at least one step further on the ITV talent show, which starts tonight at 8pm.
Before viewers see Joe try to impress Gary Barlow and his fellow judges, including the returning Sharon Osbourne, he played a gig at The Pear and Partridge pub in Perton last night.
But Joe, from Wednesfield, was staying tight-lipped on his progress on the series.
“I’m really excited to be back on the show,” he said. “Hopefully this year’s a better result for me and I can bring home some glory for Wolverhampton.
“I think I’m going to do a bit better – hopefully a lot better. I’m not going to leave anything to chance though – I’m holding nothing back this year.”
The singer said the past 12 months had changed his life completely.
“It’s been a really crazy year,” he said. “I still haven’t got to where I want to be though – I’d love to have a number one single and sell out arena tours.
“It’s good to do a last gig for a while at the Pear and Partridge as I’m keeping my schedule free for the next few months.”
