Review: Made in Brum, Wolverhampton Grand

Made In Brum, hosted by enigmatic Brummie favourite Jasper Carrott, did exactly what it said on the tin.

ELO and Move drummer Bev Bevan joined Jasper and a host of Brummie performers as they covered a wide variety of musical styles in a thoroughly fun evening.

From Roy Orbison to Led Zeppelin, Dusty Springfield to Cliff Richard the list was endless and a warm atmosphere lasted from start to finish.

Funnyman Jasper quipped that he wouldn't mention the local football team and that backstage requests these days should include stairlifts and walk in baths.

Joy Strachan-Brain, formerly of Quill, gave Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limits her own personal treatment, while Trevor Burton and Bevan performed I Can Hear the Grass Grow.

Bevan's drumming was still amazing after all these years and he certainly let rip on his version of Let There be Drums.

The packed and appreciative house lapped up the party atmosphere and Jasper joined the band for a version of Steeleye Span's All Around my Hat.

It ended with ELO's Don't Bring me Down and a singalong version of The Move's Blackberry Way.
