Support messages for boy, 13, hit by a van in Wednesbury

Messages of support have been sent to a youngster critically injured after being hit by a van in Wednesbury.

The 13-year-old, named as James Birks, was crossing the A461 High Bullen when he was hit at around 5.15pm on Tuesday.

Another child, aged 10, suffered serious head injuries. The youngsters were airlifted to hospital.

James is a former pupil of Holyhead Primary and is understood to attend Wodensborough Community Technology College.

Holyhead deputy head Bally Kapoor described James as "extremely well mannered, a credit to the school", adding: "We wish him a quick and speedy recovery."
