Driver named after South Staffordshire road tragedy

A driver killed in a car crash in South Staffordshire was named today as Norman Higgins.

Mr Higgins, who was 74, was killed when the grey Fiat Stylo he was driving towards Swindon collided with a MG ZR, travelling in the opposite direction, on Hinksford Lane near to Hinksford Garden Centre.

Mr Higgins, who lived at Hinksford Mobile Home Park in Kingswinford, died at the scene.

The MG driver, a 44-year-old woman, was checked over by paramedics but did not need hospital treatment.

The accident happened at around 8.50am on Tuesday. Hinksford Lane was closed until 11.45am.

Sgt Ian Revans, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We are very keen to speak to witnesses and, in particular, people who saw the Stylo prior to the collision.”
