Peter Cutchie, who is also chief executive of the Grand Theatre, has stood down from WV One, where he has been a director for almost two years.

The company, backed by the city council, brings together city centre traders, licensees, businesses and the university. Councillor Roger Lawrence, leader of the council, said: “Peter has done some excellent work but I think he considered that it was time to move on. We thank him for his work during difficult times.”

WV One has been in charge of handling funds provided to the city by the Government under an initiative spearheaded by retail guru Mary Portas. The city was selected as one of the first round of locations ahead of 371 others.

Mr Cutchie could not be reached for comment today, his role at the Grand Theatre is unaffected.
