£150m worth of work for Stafford's Beacon Barracks
A £150 million transformation of Stafford’s Beacon Barracks is on the way, with newly-built accommodation for 1,000 troops coming home early from Germany.
A major refurbishment of the site will take place at the site and be ready by summer 2015.
An extra £20m will be spent developing other army bases in the West Midlands, part of a £1.8 billion investment being spent across the UK.
New buildings will be created at Beacon Barracks to house the troops, and current buildings which home 900 troops from primarily the 22 Signal Regiment and the tactical supply wing of the RAF, will be refurbished.
