Justin Bieber is known for his angelic face – but now he also has the wings to match, as he soared into Birmingham’s NIA.
The 18-year-old pop sensation flew on a high wire down onto the stage wearing giant wings creating dramatic opening to his show, the first of two at the city centre venue.
The crowd of mostly teenage girls had already been whipped up into a frenzy by the time the pint sized star made his entrance, by the 10-minute countdown to the show on the big screen and also by the two upbeat support acts.
Cody Simpson had wowed the crowd with his dance moves, while Carly Rae Jepsen had got everyone up.
By the time Bieber swooped onto the stage the decibel level in the arena had hit dangerous levels. He emerged from his giant wings wearing a white suit and sunglasses and immediately launched into the upbeat All Around the World.
Not everything went to plan, however. He revealed he had a slight wardrobe malfunction, with one of his white shoes coming off during a dance routine.
Unfortunately, like his last show in Birmingham, whenever Bieber has a song that requires a high energy dance routine he appears to mime. When he is singing, his voice is often drowned out by screams, and on occasion his own music. But his adoring audience still hung on his every word.
His show was not without its cheesy moments. There were videos from his childhood, he also plucked a pretty girl from the audience and serenaded her and he repeatedly told his fans they must “Believe”.
Among excited fans were Ellie Green, aged 14 and Charlotte Yeomens and Sky Brazier both 13, who said they just loved to watch Bieber dance.
Charlotte, of Greenhill Lane, Wheaton Aston said: “I just the love the way he moves across the stage.”
