Terrapin and dog form unlikely friendship

A terrapin is settling into a temporary new home after being abandoned in a pool at Baggeridge Country Park – and has already made a new friend.

Staff at the site between Wombourne and Sedgley have been looking after the reptile since it was discovered on Sunday. They believe the female terrapin, nicknamed Mrs T, may have been at the park for a few days. But they are keen to find her a permanent new home.

A temporary pond has been set up for her in a office at the park, which is run by South Staffordshire District Council.

And the creature has already made a new pal in the form of a dog named Rosie, who belongs to park manager Steve Gallis.

Mr Gallis said: "She's fairly big. We think she must have been a pet. She's completely unfazed by people and being handled."

Anyone who can offer the creature a home can contact the park on 01902 882605.
