Nando's and Costa to open new Walsall outlets

Two big high street names have unveiled plans to open new outlets in Walsall town centre, creating dozens of jobs.

Restaurant chain Nando’s is planning to open a restaurant at the Crown Wharf Shopping Park.

Coffee giant Costa is looking to open a second shop in the town. It has earmarked part of the former Clinton cards premises in the Saddlers

Shopping Centre for a £200,000 investment, creating four full-time and six part-time jobs.

Both companies have submitted planning applications to the council.

Nando’s wants to transform the former Pizza Hut restaurant at the Crown Wharf, which closed in November.

A council spokesman said it would be a “shot in the arm” for the town.

There's a Costa in the Art Gallery. So that makes it 2 in the town!

And in asda now on crown warf

They're not new jobs are they?

They're only replacing the jobs that were lost when the original businesses closed.

The Crown Wharf is not the town centre. It is an out of town retail park on the edge of town, sucking what little life there is, away from the centre.

Crown Wharf is 50 yards from the High Street. How is it out of / on the edge of town?
