The Brit Awards nominee, whose hits include Stone Cold Sober and Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful?, will be performing on Friday, June 28 and tickets are to go on sale later this week.

Cannock Chase Council's cabinet member for culture, Christine Mitchell, said: "It's brilliant news. The more big names we can get to Cannock Chase, the better.

"I went to see Simply Red a couple of years ago, and it was a lovely experience. It was a beautiful evening.

"It's really great news for the area.

"We do, however, need to maintain a fine balance on Cannock Chase, ensuring we keep the nature and wildlife undisturbed, while being able to do things like this as well."

London-born Faith is the latest big name to play at the beauty spot in a concert organised by the Forestry Commission.

Forest Live sees big names play in beauty spots around the UK, with revenue from ticket sales ploughed into improving the woodland.

Rachael Miller, events manager for the Forestry Commission, said: "I'm really looking forward to seeing Paloma Faith play at Cannock Chase – it's such a beautiful venue.

"We're really pleased to be welcoming such an up-and-coming star."

Faith, aged 27, burst on to the music scene in 2009 and has had a number of hits, including New York, Upside Down and Picking Up the Pieces.

Commenting on her Forest Live dates, the singer said: "I'm really excited about these shows. It's going to be a great experience, so I hope you will be able to join me on my woodland adventure this summer."

Tickets are £32 and on sale from 9am on Friday.
