Stephen Gough, aged 53, pleaded not guilty to charge of indecent exposure.

He has been arrested a number of times for allegedly hiking naked and has spent more than six years in jails nationwide.

And it has now emerged the former Royal Marine was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure at a canal towpath in the village of Huddlesford, near Lichfield.

He appeared naked to deny one charge of public nuisance, namely indecent exposure, before Cannock Magistrates Court on Monday.

Staffordshire Police spokesman Peter Bate confirmed: "Staffordshire Police arrested a 53-year-old man on a canal towpath in Huddlesford on Friday afternoon. He was charged with indecent exposure and remanded to appear before magistrates at Cannock on Monday, November 26."

West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service spokesman Vinny Bolina added: "We can confirm that Stephen Gough was charged with one count of public nuisance – indecent exposure – and that he appeared at Cannock Magistrates on Monday for a hearing."

The case was adjourned until December for a trial and Gough was released on unconditional bail by the Cannock court.

Gough, of Eastleigh, Hants, was jailed for five months in September after being arrested for breach of the peace when he walked naked near a play park in Dunfermline.

The court was then told he walked past the park, despite an offer from police to drive him past it and let him out once they had reached the other side.

Kirkcaldy sheriff James Williamson said Gough had a 'disregard for other members of the public, in particular children who have the right not to see naked men."

He was also arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour earlier this month after it was alleged he entered a shop in Castleton Derbyshire while naked.
