Heartfelt show by comedian Richard

An ex-Wolverhampton Grammar School pupil is returning home to perform his heartfelt one man show as part of his UK tour.

Richard Tyrone Jones, aged 32, left Wolverhampton Grammar school in 1998 to study at Cambridge University, were he joined the famous Footlights Society and started a successful comedy troupe.

After leaving university, Richard decided to work on a solo act based around the spoken word.

He performed for years at the Edinburgh Fringe, getting recognition from some the UK's top critics, but it was a recent brush with death that led him to produce his latest show.

After the comedian and poet suffered his near catastrophic heart failure he was fitted with a cardiac pacemaker with in-built defibrillator.

His comical one man show, Big Heart, follows the story of his heart's failure in March 2010 at the age of 30.

Richard's show has already received praise from a number of critics and has been peer reviewed by scientific bodies for the quality of its content.

He said: "If you come to my show I can't guarantee your heart wont fail but at least you will know the signs if it does happen."

Richard will first be performing at Bilston Voices event at the Café Metro in Church Street on November 22 and at Wolverhampton's Arena Theatre on November 28.

He said: "I look forward to coming home and seeing old friends and family and hope to make some new friends as well."

The show is supported by the British Heart Foundation and Cardiomyopathy Association, for whom he has raised more than £700 at gigs. A crowdfunder.co.uk drive for Big Heart smashed its £2,100 target with over 50 supporters. Tickets for the Arena Theatre date are available for £9 via the theatre's box office on 01902 321321.
