The 41-year-old will perform at the North Street venue on December 30 as part of his 16-date tour.

Barlow tweeted last night: "I'm really excited to announce news of my solo tour dates starting in November."

It will be Barlow's first solo tour in 13 years and follows a pair of performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London last year. He will visit the venue again during his tour as well as playing two hometown shows in Manchester. The first date is at Bournemouth International Centre on November 13, which also featured on his last solo outing in 1999 during his For The Fans tour.

The tour announcement has sparked speculation Barlow is set to quit his X Factor role, although the claims are denied by his team who say he will juggle his commitments with performances.

Ticket prices range from £35 to £55. They go on sale on Friday.

Barlow was awarded an OBE in the birthday honours list in the summer.
