Fans gather for stars' signs at Autographica

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and racing car driver Sir Stirling Moss were among the star names at an annual autograph convention in Birmingham.

Thousands of fans flocked to meet famous faces from the worlds of sport, film, television and even space at the two-day Autographica event.

Samantha Bond, known for her role at Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films during the Pierce Brosnan years and Dave Prowse who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy also appeared during the weekend.

Autograph hunters queued up for the chance to shake hands with 82-year-old American Buzz, who was the second man to set foot on the moon. He answered their questions about that momentous day in July 1969. Speaking to the Express & Star, he said: "I have my own fond memories of what it was like but I am always keen to hear other people's memories."

007 star Samantha Bond said she was looking forward to seeing the latest Bond movie – Skyfall.

Andrew Webster from Little Station Road, Walsall brought along his seven-year-old son Matthew. Postman Mr Webster, aged 45, said: "I wanted to meet Buzz Aldrin, Samantha Bond and Dave Prowse who were all very friendly."
