A world champion inline skater visited pupils at a Stafford school to inspire them to make the most of their talents.

Jenna Downing dropped by Castlechurch Primary School in Tennyson Road as part of the 21st Century Legacy Programme, which has been designed to continue the inspirational impact of the Olympic Games.

Headteacher Jonathan Jones said the visit encouraged the children to work on their own unique skills.

Mr Jones said: "We want to try and get our young people to be the best they can be. If their talent is sport or art or maths, they can learn that with some hard work it can pay off.

"Having Jenna here was great and she told us the story of her humble beginnings and how she has managed to work her way up to world champion. She gave a very interesting speech and then also visited each of the classrooms and heard about the children's dreams too."

Jenna, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, is the LG Action Sports World Champion, 10 times British Champion and an X-Games silver medallist.

She said she had an "absolutely brilliant day" at Castlechurch and enjoyed hearing from the pupils.
