A new meat superstore is to open in Wolverhampton, creating up to 30 new jobs.

The former Kwik Save supermarket, off the busy Stafford Road, will reopen on February 3 as Town and Country – the Meat Megastore following a £250,000 investment.

The 6,000sq ft store will be officially opened by former Coronation Street actor Steven Arnold, who played butcher Ashley Peacock.

Butcher Gary Walker, who owns Town and Country Meats in Landport Road, is beind the transformation of the two-storey unit.

Wolverhampton-born Mr Walker, aged 34, has run the meat factory for the last two years.

"The 6,000sq ft megastore will be open seven days a week and we are hoping to sell 25 to 30 tons of meat a week through it," he said.
