First glimpse of West Bromwich’s golden future
Saturday 7th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
The Public art gallery will be the centrepiece of the sweeping regeneration of West Bromwich, as these new artist’s impressions show.
Tesco’s £200m investment is set to revitalise the town with a modern shopping centre, which will be complemented by £8m Sandwell Council plans for a public square joining shops, an eight-screen cinema and rows of restaurants, which can be seen in the foreground of one picture.
The striking gold pillars marking the entrance of the new centre, off Cronehills Linkway, will be a sharp contrast to the nearby dilapidated Sandwell Centre canopy, which is set to be pulled down as part of the town’s overhaul. The centre will be anchored by a 144,000 sq ft Tesco Extra.
Councillor Ian Jones said: “The Tesco development, when it is complete, will be a great boost to the area despite nationwide austerity. It promises jobs, too.”

West Bromwich hear after is to be known as TESCO Town.
Why? Because people shopping in the new store will not bother using the town.
That is if its not the failure as the one at Burnt Tree is, they have yet to reach their expected targets and no sign of achieving them in the future.

The redevelopment is just what West Bromwich has been crying out for. Really excited at the development and proud to live in West Bromwich. What an achievement.
