Blustery Midlands weather will stay
Thursday 29th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
Strong winds will continue to batter the Midlands until the new year, forecasters said today.
After a blustery night, gusts of up to 60mph were expected today and into tomorrow.
But the region has escaped the worst of the windy weather, which reached speeds of 90mph in the north of England and Scotland.
In the West Midlands today it will be wet and windy, with temperatures reaching 46F (8C) and overnight dipping down to a chilly 39F (4C). Tomorrow will see heavy rain and the mercury reach around 50F (10C).
Milder weather will return in time for New Year’s Eve – but Monday will be notably colder with daytime temperatures dropping to 41F (5C).
