Virus-hit ward open at Walsall Manor Hospital

A ward at Walsall Manor Hospital which closed earlier this week due to an outbreak of winter vomiting bug Norovirus has now reopened.

Ward 16 is now open to all patient admissions, transfers and visitors, although strict infection control measures remain in place.

One patient was confirmed as having the winter bug on Tuesday, prompting the gastro ward to close.

Amir Khan, medical director at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “I thank all of the families who have been understanding.”
