A glistening glass canopy will soon welcome visitors to Wolverhampton's former Low Level Station if plans to convert it into a banqueting hall and conference centre are given the go-ahead, an artist's impression reveals.

The multi-million pound plan to transform the historic Grade ll-listed building will go before the planning committee at Wolverhampton City Council on December 6.

The future of the building has been in limbo for more than two years after £6 million plans to create a casino collapsed.

But refurbishment work is expected to begin as early as spring next year if councillors approve the scheme. A decision on the plan had been expected by November 24 but council spokesman Gurdip Thandi today confirmed the decision would be made next month.
