Bomb used in deadly Walsall raid is put on show

A bomb believed to have been used when the Black Country suffered one of the heaviest air raids of the First World War is now on display.
The 20lb German incendiary bomb was dropped on Walsall in 1916 as part of a night of attacks across the area which left 35 dead.
The casing of one of the bombs believed to have been dropped in Walsall is now on display at the town’s museum in Lichfield Street.
It is accompanied by other artefacts which help tell the story of what happened when Tipton, Bradley, Wednesbury and Walsall were bombed by two Zeppelins on January 31, 1916.
Photographs on display also show the extent of the damage caused by the attacks.
By the end of that terrible night, those dead included the Lady Mayoress of Walsall, Mary Julia Slater.
