An elderly Staffordshire woman and her sister have died after a road accident.
Eileen Williams, aged 83, was a passenger in her 82-year-old sister Pamela Moore’s car when it was in collision with another vehicle. It also emerged Mrs Williams’ husband died six weeks earlier.
Mrs Williams, of Baswich Lane, Stafford, and Mrs Moore, of Billingborough, near Sleaford, both died from their injuries at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital in Lincolnshire.
Mrs Moore was driving a Peugeot 106 on the A52 near Donington, when it was in collision with a Volkswagen Golf. A 77-year-old Billingborough woman who was another passenger in the Peugeot is in a serious condition in hospital. The driver of the Golf, a 55-year-old Boston man, suffered back and head injuries in the crash on Thursday night.
An inquest into the sisters’ deaths was due to be opened today.
