Band reunited by James May’s TV show

A Black Country band who were re-united by Top Gear presenter James May are set to star in his TV show tomorrow night.

Five friends from Bearwood who set up their band as teenagers have been re-united more than 20 years after they split up, for the BBC hit TV show James May’s Man Lab.

Band members, Mark Rabone, Ian Kelly, Matt Mcivor, Dennis Day and  Ben Upton met at Bristnall Hall School in Oldbury as teenagers and formed their band called Love Fungus.

The band played at variety of venues in the area including The Mitre Inn in Stourbridge, the Barrel Organ in Birmingham, and the Bear Tavern in Bearwood.

After several gigs in 1991 the band members all agreed it was time to split and the members left their chance of rock stardom behind them – until James May sent out a rallying call.
