Severe wounds after worker’s fingers trapped in machine

A man suffered severe wounds to his hands after his fingers became trapped in a meat-sorting machine at a Black Country abattoir.
The man, aged 48 and believed to be Bulgarian, had been working in a room at Janan Meat, in Ham Lane, Kingswinford, when his hand got caught in the combination machine, which is used to sort meat.
He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham shortly after 1.30pm yesterday to undergo emergency reconstructive surgery to his right hand.
