More than 50 tyres went up in flames after being set alight by arsonists in Walsall, forcing firefighters to demolish most of the derelict building they were being stored in.

Plumes of acrid smoke filled the air during the blaze at the derelict building annexe in Valley Road, Blakenall, yesterday.

Firefighters were forced to demolish most of the outbuilding as it was left structurally unsafe.

It is the latest disused building to be destroyed by fire in the town, following the blaze at derelict Miners Arms in Rushall last week.
