Fewer motorists were killed or seriously injured in collisions in Staffordshire over the past six months than in the corresponding period in 2010, according to latest figures.

Between April and September, 119 people were killed or injured – compared with 143 over the same period in 2010. It represents a drop of nearly 17 per cent. Nineteen died, compared with 20 in the same period last year.

Staffordshire Assistant Chief Constable Jane Sawyers said: “We are determined to reduce the number of casualties even further through both enforcement and education.”
