Tuesday 25th October 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Multi-million plans to revamp the historic market place in Dudley have been extended further into the town centre to create a new showpiece shopping area.
New car parking spaces are also proposed to help bring more visitors into the town as part of the revised scheme unveiled by Dudley Council today.
An overhaul of the market has been on the cards for many years but regeneration bosses have now extended the plans into Castle Street.
New footpaths and improvements to the historic Earl of Dudley statue, outside St Edmunds Church, will be carried out.
The extended scheme now includes additional parking, footpaths, crossing points for pedestrians and cycle parking in Castle Street as well as improvements to St Edmunds Church.
