Willenhall regeneration scheme loses £1m
Monday 24th October 2011, 11:29AM BST.
A long-awaited heritage project to repair historic buildings in Willenhall to help regenerate the town centre has been cut back by £1 million.
The scheme has already been delayed by three years and was originally estimated at £2m.
Some £500,000 has been offered by the Heritage Lottery Fund to help fix roofs and chimneys at old shops and other properties.
Now disappointed councillors have been told the council is only able to put £500,000 towards the scheme.
