Counterfeit clothes and illegal cigarettes seized in Dudley
Saturday 22nd October 2011, 10:14AM BST.
Illegal cigarettes and counterfeit clothing worth thousands of pounds has been confiscated following a raid on a stall at Dudley Market. Almost 80,000 cigarettes were seized.
No duty was paid on any of the cigarettes, leading to around £18,000 being evaded.
Trading standards also confiscated a large amount of counterfeit clothing from the stall and a private address during the raid earlier this month. Council chiefs say the evidence obtained is now being assessed.
