Cannabis discovered in Heath Hayes attic

An attic full of cannabis plants was uncovered in a police raid on a house in Staffordshire.

Officers found 105 plants when they searched the house in Hill Street, Heath Hayes, yesterday.

Detective Sergeant David Wain, who was leading the investigation, said:  “We found a number of plants in the attic which we believe to be cannabis. We also found hydroponics set up in the roof space.”

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil.

The warrant was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act following concerns received by members of the community.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and has been released on bail until early January pending further inquiries.
