20th wedding anniversary for TV's Blind date couple

A woman from Walsall, who met her husband on ITV show Blind Date, is celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary, despite many predicting the marriage would be short-lived.

A woman from Walsall, who met her husband on ITV show Blind Date, is celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary, despite many predicting the marriage would be short-lived.

Sue Tatham from Pelsall met her husband Alex on the famous show which was hosted Cilla Black's during the 1980s and 1990s. She said nobody ever thought her marriage would last. But 20 years on the champagne is on ice to celebrate their china anniversary on Wednesday.

The couple appeared on the third series of Blind Date back in 1988.

At that time the show was top of the ratings, watched by 18.2 million viewers every week. Mr Tatham said he just went on the programme to have some fun.

After three years of dating the couple married at St Michael's Church in Pelsall .

Cilla Black attended the special ceremony, as well as around 4,000 well wishers.

The couple now have two children, Emily aged 17, and Charlie aged 15, and live in London.
