Here is a first glimpse of how the sprawling £355 million Jaguar Land Rover engine plant on the outskirts of Wolverhampton will look – as bosses revealed plans for the development would be submitted in weeks.

The huge scale of the development that will transform 753,000sq ft of land on the i54 business park is made evident in this artist’s  impression of the site which is revealed today.

JLR has announced it will be moving on to the business park, on the border of South Staffordshire, following 18 months of hard work by the workforce, councils and politicians.

With a modern, simplistic design, the development includes two linked buildings comprising of a machining hall, assembly hall and ancillary offices. The plant will be no higher than 50ft.

The development also includes a new £36.7 million slip road from the M54 motorway, which was part of the deal.
