Young Voices concert to be disrupted by walk-outs

An annual concert to be staged in Birmingham featuring hundreds of schoolchildren from across the Black Country and Staffordshire has been disrupted by a planned public sector workers strike, it was revealed today.

The Young Voices event, which this year will also feature Walsall singing sensation Connie Talbot, was due to take place at the LG Arena in Birmingham over three days from November 29 to December 1.

But the Express & Star has been told the concert that was going to take place on November 30 has been moved to Monday, November 28 due to the planned action that could see schools closed for the day.

Union Unison has balloted 1.1 million members about a one-day strike on November 30 over government plans to make public sector workers pay more for their pensions and work beyond their current pension age.
