Play equipment in a South Staffordshire village has been chained up by councillors – amid complaints children are making too much noise when using it.

Wombourne Parish Council has taken the action following a "few" complaints concerning the Pool House adventure ground in Wombourne. Children with special needs and limited mobility are among those who regularly use the equipment. But they will now no longer be able to access the popular nest swing at weekends or after 3pm on weekdays.

Families today described the decision to lock up the swing as "disgraceful".

The council insists it had to take action to alleviate complaints from a handful of residents living close to the park, in Millfields Way, about screaming and bad language.
