More staff at Wolverhampton post office to cut queues

Workers are being recruited at Wolverhampton’s busy post office – following complaints of queues backing out of the door leading to lengthy delays to get served.

Customers at the city centre post office claim they have been left waiting for up to 30 minutes to be served. They said queues can regularly be seen trailing out of the Lichfield Street building during early mornings and lunchtimes, with only a few members of staff seeming to be on duty to serve dozens of waiting customers.

Bosses today announced they were hoping to take on two new members of staff to cope with the demand and put an end to “excessive” waiting times.

Post Office spokesman Richard Hall said: “Our agent at the Wolverhampton post office is in the process of recruiting additional staff. In the meantime staff are working hard to ensure the branch operates as effectively as possible.”

About time, there have been queues there for years, plus the place always looks a mess.

Post Office management have for years cut staff at the few remaining Crown Offices with a couple of minor exceptions -Apart from dismal customer service this is nothing short of managed decline and privitisation by proxy.

Staff are bullied into selling “products” to all customers irrespective of the suitability.

It is all sales the customer counts for nothing – write to your MP before there is no longer a Post Office

This happening all over. Just go down Great Bridge or Dudley Port, Tipton: small, dirty, dangerously over-crowded and as hot as an oven. Ironically we had two (better) post offices, and both of them now stand rotting. Not even knocked down or put to other use. I absolutely detest what the Post Office has done to the system, they’ve made it 10 times worse and the que’s 10 times long. They run offices in shops which were never designed for nor are fit for this purpose. I now go to other towns rather than suffer the filth, crowding and hissy fits which would insult anyone other than yocals who set their aspirations below the gutter.
