Walsall FC today unveiled a new sponsor – Black Country tile supplier Tile Choice.

The company will take over the biggest stand at the Banks's Stadium and the huge advertising hoarding that towers over the M6 motorway.

The new sponsorship deal begins immediately, with work to change the advertising board starting on Monday.

The three-tier Floors 2 Go stand will be re-named the Tile Choice Stand.

The company, which has 14 stores through the Midlands and a headquarters in Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, today said it was delighted with the new deal.

Tile Choice managing director and owner Kevin Beasley said today: "We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring Walsall FC, we have local branches of Tile Choice in Walsall, Cannock, West Bromwich and Bilston and many of our employees and customers are huge fans of the club. We very much look forward to a continuing relationship with Walsall FC and wish them the very best of luck for the forthcoming season."

The advertising board is the biggest in Europe and a team of signage professionals will have to abseil down it to complete the job.

Mr Beasley said: "This is the largest illuminated advertising sign adjacent to a motorway in Europe and it will consist of 52 panels each measuring 10 feet by five feet.

"Because we can't use cherry pickers on the pitch each panel has to be placed and fixed by abseilers.

"This is just the third time in the stand's history that this sign has been replaced and it's a huge task to do so.

"The sign is a local landmark, a staggering 833,000 plus vehicles pass it on the M6 every week."
